Although StarCraft 2 is still relatively new game, beta testers and other serious players have logged hundreds and thousands of hours in with the game. In addition to the guides in the member's section, there are dozens of videos taken from real matches which showcase effective and winning strategies firsthand which I found to be a major help, as reading something is one thing but seeing it in action and having it being explained there is so much better.

You may have heard of Joana from his fame as a World of Warcraft player. He is most famous for breaking a leveling speed run a few years ago. After breaking the record, so many people asked him how it was done that he created a best selling leveling guide. Once Starcraft 2 was announced, he turned his sights on the game. From the first day of beta, he was playing non-stop for six months. He rose the ranks and reached diamond in all the brackets that he played in. So what will you get when you buy the guide? First of all, it will give you an explanation of all the basics of the game. Joana writes about the differences in this game and early Blizzard strategy games. He also explains the game terminology and how to use macros. Finally Joana covers the Protoss. Most players of Starcraft 2 assume that Protoss are slow to expand. Joana dispels that myth and explains in great detail how to expand quickly and safely. Some of the unique traits of the Protoss are the Chrono Boost, and the Warp Gate. These are very important for a Protoss player to learn about, so Joana does a good job showing you how they work. Protoss players will also need to master the two primary strategies of Void Ray Rush and the Stalker Rush. Joana lays out how to do these strategies step by step.

Overall, Joana's Starcraft 2 Guide is a good buy. One thing that makes it very valuable is that fact that it is only a one time fee. The price gives you a lifetime membership, so when new patches or expansions come out, you get the updates for free.
